Getting Here

Dalaman (also known as Mugla) is the nearest airport: about 90 mins away by road.  Low-price UK-based operators such as easyJet, Jet2, Thomas Cook, British Airways and Monarch now fly to Dalaman from many UK airports. There are also several Turkish operators such as Pegasus and Onur Air that offer flights to the region from the UK.

We can easily arrange private taxi transfers to and from Dalaman airport for your party - just contact us for more details.

You can also fly to Antalya from the UK; national carriers British Airways and Turkish Airlines both operate a scheduled service from London to Antalya but the journey from Antalya to Kalkan is about twice as long as the journey from Dalaman, and the cost of transfers is correspondingly higher.

You can use sites such as Travelrepublic or Skyscanner to research the cheapest flights. Do bear in mind that it is often cheaper - and more convenient in terms of  flight times - to book your outward journey with one airline and your return jouney with another; Skyscanner's service is particularly helpful in this respect.

Travelling around Kalkan

Car hire is not really needed for our guests at any of the Town Centre or Old Town properties on the site, including the Nur Apartments, the Dere Apartments, the Customs House Apartments or Falcon Villas, as you can easily walk into Kalkan and access all the facilities in 5 mins or less from all of these properties. As mentioned above, we can easily arrange private taxi transfers to and from the airport for your party - see our Airport Transfers page for more details; hiring a car is really only necessary if you wish to get out and about and do some sightseeing during your stay, under your own steam.

If you do want to hire a car while you're here, we can arrange one for you in advance, ready to be picked up at Dalaman airport. Or, if you want to wait until you are at the resort and just hire one by the day, there are several hire car companies that will let you do this. Again, we can help you.

Guests at our other apartments and villas may wish to hire a car for the duration of their stay, however, if they want to get into Kalkan centre and back on a regular basis. We'd certainly recommend this for properties in Kiziltas, Kordere and Islamlar/Uzumlu.

If you don't want to hire a car but want to go exploring further afield once you are here, the dolmus (local bus service) is always a good bet - the dolmus service extends right across the region from the bus station in Kalkan.

Taxis (all yellow in colour and with a sign saying "TAKSI" on the roof) are also plentiful and can be easily booked in advance, or hailed on demand from the taxi rank in the town - or from outside any of the larger supermarkets (there's always a taxi or two waiting outside the main supermarkets in the town, in case people want a lift with their shopping)!

General distances from Kalkan

Kaputas Beach - 8 mins by road

Patara Beach (18 km of golden sand)- 15 mins by road

Kas - 25 mins by road (spectacular scenery on route)

Fethiye/Olu Deniz - 50 mins by road.

Kalkan is on the Lycian Coast with many fascinating places of historical interest nearby, including Saklikent Gorge, the sunken city of Kekova, the Lycian Tombs and the ruins at Xanthos, all within easy reach by road. You can easily book organised excursions to all of these sites through one of the many private tour operators in Kalkan.

Just returned from 2 weeks holiday at Sonsuz Apartment in the Customs House and what a gorgeous place to stay. It’s perfect if you want to be right in the old town right by all the bars and restaurant ...
